    Some Epistemic Extensions of G\"odel Fuzzy Logic

    In this paper, we introduce some epistemic extensions of G\"odel fuzzy logic whose Kripke-based semantics have fuzzy values for both propositions and accessibility relations such that soundness and completeness hold. We adopt belief as our epistemic operator, then survey some fuzzy implications to justify our semantics for belief is appropriate. We give a fuzzy version of traditional muddy children problem and apply it to show that axioms of positive and negative introspections and Truth are not necessarily valid in our basic epistemic fuzzy models. In the sequel, we propose a derivation system KFK_F as a fuzzy version of classical epistemic logic KK. Next, we establish some other epistemic-fuzzy derivation systems BF,TF,BFn B_F, T_F, B_F^n and TFnT_F^n which are extensions of KFK_F, and prove that all of these derivation systems are sound and complete with respect to appropriate classes of Kripke-based models

    A Genetic Algorithm Meta-Heuristic for a Generalized Quadratic Assignment Problem

    The generalized quadratic assignment problem (GQAP) is one of the hardest problems to solve in the operations research area. The GQAP addressed in this work is defined as the task of minimizing the assignment and transportation costs of assigning a set of facilities to a set of locations. The facilities have different space requirements, and the locations have different space capacities. Multiple facilities can be assigned to each location if the space capacity is not violated. In this work, three instances of GQAP in different situations are presented. Then, a genetic algorithm is developed to solve the GQAP instances. Finally, the local neighborhood search with the steepest descend strategy is constructed and applied to the final solution obtained by the GA, and the final solution is compared with the best solution found by MPL/CPLEX software and reference papers. The results show that the developed GA heuristic is effective for solving the GQAP

    Double Relaxation via AdS/CFT

    We exploit the AdS/CFT correspondence to investigate thermalization in an N=2 strongly coupled gauge theory including massless fundamental matter (quark). More precisely, we consider the response of a zero temperature state of the gauge theory under variation of an external electric field leading to a time-dependent current. The holographic dual of the above set-up is given by introducing a time-dependent electric field on the probe D7-brane embedded in an AdS_5 X S^5 background. In the dual gravity theory, due to a time-dependent electric field an apparent horizon forms on the brane which, according to AdS/CFT dictionary, is the counterpart of the thermalization process in the gauge theory. We classify different functions for time-dependent electric field and study their effect on the apparent horizon formation. In the case of pulse functions where the electric field varies from zero to zero, apart from non-equilibrium phase, we observe that two apparent horizons form on the brane. On the gauge theory side, it means that the state of the gauge theory experiences two different temperatures during the time evolution.Comment: 28 pages, 13 figures, published versio

    Length frequency, length-weight relationship and distribution of Psettodes erumei in the Oman Sea

    Psettodes erumei is the sole fish species belonging to Psettodidae family that lives in the Oman Sea. The species has a flat body and is thicker than other flat fishes. It has a large mouth with strong teeth and gray-brown color on body surface; and is mostlysround in muddy-sandy substrates up to 25m depths. The species is carnivorous and feeds on prey fishes. The common trawl and gillnet are commonly used for catching the fish. This study was carried out in the Oman Sea in 2002 covering 86 trawling stations. After each haul, the trawl was emptied on board for separation, identification and weight measurement of the catch items. The CPUA was calculated by Swept Area method and used as an index for distribution analysis of the fish species. The maximum snout-length was found to be 66cm for the study area and the length-weight relationship was calculated as W = 0.0294TL^2 7973

    Perovskites as surface-assisted room temperature protonic conductor humidity sensor

    This paper shows a correlation between surface effective porosity due to various sintering regimes and humidity sensitive electrical properties of the perovskite-based bulk type humidity sensors. Furthermore, room temperature humidity transduction mechanism of the thick film type humidity sensors was studied in details through electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and major transmissive components were detected by fitting to the equivalent circuits. The materials were synthesized employing solid state reaction and bulk and film type devices were fabricated by hydraulic pressing and screen printing techniques, respectively. The morphological and elemental characterizations were carried on using FESEM, EFTEM, and EDX. Physical properties including open porosity/bulk density were investigated through ASTM methods. An innovative self-designed material test fixture with ceramic supports was fabricated for high S/N ratio electrical measurement of the bulk samples. All the sensors were set up at 20-95% RH. The morphological, physical, and electrical results of bulk pellets indicate direct correlation of the open cavities and AC conduction. Presence of the ionic transport is clearly observed from the frequency-conductance spectra at room temperature.
